Finding Mental Clarity: Karen’s Journey With Floating Sound Baths
Karen is a strong believer in the benefits of regular Floating Sound Baths. So much so, she has been back to revisit our sessions at the newly transformed InterContinental Coogee Beach on three separate occasions since we relaunched this Spring – notwithstanding the fact she lives over an hour’s drive away.
In this interview, we sat down with Karen above the sparkling waters of Coogee Beach, enjoying the sunset at the new home of our Floating Sound Bath experience in Sydney.
We were ready to reset soon after our chat with ocean views, a stunning infinity pool, and an immersive soundscape, the perfect opportunity to slow down, switch off, and reconnect as day transitioned into night.
This is the first in a series of blogs we will be publishing to explore how floating may be used to relieve stress, support relaxation and wellbeing and reduce tension and anxiety. The calming effects of immersive sound also create a restorative environment as you drift slowly away, supported by warm, buoyant water. Together, these elements encourage mindfulness, body awareness and a sense of mental space.
Join our Floating Sound Baths on the first and third Thursday of every month at 6:00pm (runs for 75 minutes) and enjoy a complimentary herbal tea tasting experience at the new onsite Èliva Spa.

AQUA SCULPT: “What’s your first reaction when you come out of a Floating Sound Bath? How do you feel?”
KAREN: “I feel so spaced out, relaxed, calm. It is just so tranquil. The sense of being grounded is just amazing. [When I open my eyes I just have] an empty, calm, restful mind.”
AQUA SCULPT: “And you’ve already done a few Floating Sound Baths with us before. What were your thoughts coming into the first session? Did you have any preconceptions?”
KAREN: “The first session I was very nervous as to how I was going to get on and off the board. And it's still not pretty (laughs), but the support and help from Nina and everybody just makes it such a pleasant experience without any sort of inhibitions. It's just so amazing how wonderful, accepting and supportive everybody is here.”

AQUA SCULPT: “So now, you arrive and feel a little more relaxed, you know what to expect?”
KAREN: “Yes, I’ve even done the one at Rose Bay in the water because of how comfortable they made me feel.”
AQUA SCULPT: “And would you recommend the experience to your friends?”
KAREN: “Definitely! I have already recommended it to my friends. I think you also have to find the right friend that's willing to let go and just relax and take the time for themselves. But once they do it, they're going to keep wanting to come back because it's just, it's refreshing, it's tranquil, and so supportive as I said. That’s the thing that keeps getting me back. I live an hour's drive away and it's still worth coming.”

AQUA SCULPT: “What questions or queries do your friends have, are they nervous about trying their first session?”
KAREN: “It's finding the time for themselves, I think. And as I said, we are a fair way away, but for people that live in the area, I keep plugging it and hope that they make it here. Facebook's where a lot of people have seen it. I don't know whether it's because of our age group that we should be on Instagram or something. My friends have seen it on Facebook.”
AQUA SCULPT: “How about this setting as well?”
KAREN: “It's just beautiful with the sunset and the feeling of being on the water. It's just so calming and relaxing. I can’t wait for my next one.”
